Har Sinai Congregation Names New President, Officers
BALTIMORE, MD (5/4/11) - Owings Mills — Har Sinai Congregation named Stewart D. Sachs president of the board for the 2011–2012 term. Sachs has served in leadership positions at Har Sinai Congregation before, including as president of Brotherhood as well as second vice president, treasurer and trustee of the congregation. His grandchildren are seventh generation members of Har Sinai Congregation, and he values the congregation’s rich history.
New Har Sinai Congregation board officers serving with Sachs are:
- Joanne Goldsmith of Owings Mills as first vice president
- Joseph DeMattos of Baltimore as second vice president
- Anne Berman of Owings Mills as third vice president
- Cecilia Rund of Reisterstown as secretary
- Scott Hayet of Owings Mills as treasurer
- Samuel Dansicker of Baltimore as assistant treasurer
“I’m strongly committed to temple life and value participation in a synagogue,” Sachs said. “I hope during my tenure as president to make Har Sinai Congregation a priority in the lives of its congregants, and I want to ensure that we offer worship experiences and programming that meet the needs of all our congregants, young and young at heart.”
Sachs is founder and president of Worthington Alternative Capital in Owings Mills, Md., and a managing member of Black Walnut Capital Partners and Talbot Consulting. He has more than 40 years of experience serving clients in the financial services field.
He is a member of the Maryland Private Lenders Association board of trustees and director of Lexington National Insurance Corp. In addition, Sachs has served as an expert witness in Federal Bankruptcy Court in Baltimore and Rockville, Md., as well as in the Baltimore County and Baltimore City Circuit Court.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in Baltimore, Md. Sachs resides in the Baltimore metro area with his wife, Nadine Sachs.
